Updates

Nothing too much. Just a couple of things I think is worth people watching... and I just felt like updating on my life, since I have been insanely unproductive in a artistic sense.

1.
The movie Ip Man [葉問] [I find that a horible translation for a title =A=] is REALLY GOOD for a Kung-Fu movie. The pacing, screening angles, and the action itself are all EXTRAORDINARY. The plot itself is about the teacher of Bruce Lee... and honestly speaking, I like this story a lot more than Bruce Lee's. There's a lot more historical significance and elaboration on the nature of Kung-Fu [the philosophy behind it] included in the storyline..... but I guess it's because of this reason, this movie is probably going to be banned in Japan.
No offense, but the Japanese goverment really has a lot more pride than it needs to. The fact that they renamed the NanJing Massacare [南京大屠殺] into the "NanJing Incident" does say something. And I guess the depiction in the movie on the Japanese nationalists may be a bit too much for that kind of pride to take - no matter how awesome I think this movie is.
Here's the movie trailer if you're curious, but mind you, I think this is one of those movies where the trailer actually SUCKS LIKE HELL compared to the actual movie =v=+ [link]

The Dance production Zero Degrees performed by Akram Khan and Sidi Larbi IS AMAZING. IT'S AWESOME. I really really really recommend it... even if you're not interested in dance one bit.
I recently borrowed the DVD of the production from my Dance teacher, ....and I was totally captivated. No, it's not like Swan Lake or any of those Classical ballet pieces [which I would have called "phony" two years ago] IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT. AND IT'S AMAZING.
The introduction on the back of the box reads:

zero degrees explores boarders between countries, cultures and, most importantly, between life and death. It challenges, prompts and inspires, in a seamless fusion of dance styles, music and contemporary art.

...I don't know too much about the background of the choreographers mysef, but the story told through the piece does a lot more than "explore boarders" to me. It may be because of my own cultural upbringing as a third culture kid, I feel that this piece challenges the very essence of identity, choice, and what is right and wrong.
Again, here's a little clip of it.... but I BET YOU YOU WILL NOT SEE ITS BRILLIANCE UNTILL YOU WATCH THE WHOLE THING. The dancers do so much in the piece [it's over an hour, I think] that this little clip barely even scrapes its essence. [link]

The game Remember 11 by KID. AWESOME PLOT AND PACING.
The surface plotline goes like this: Girl named Fuyukawa CoCoro survives a plane crash and waits for rescue under extremely harsh conditions in the middle of a snowy mountain. Guy called Yukidoh Satoru gets pushed off a clock tower at the begining of the game for no apparent reason. He's basically stuck in a structure known as SPHIA with somebody that seems to be plotting to kill him.
After their respective accidents, the two realize that they switch bodies at undetermined times.
I KNOW THAT SOUNDS CLICHE, BUT IT'S NOT. The whole storyline is structured in a way more complicated matter that it's not just switching bodies. There's a whole reason you have to uncover as to why the phenominon happens. And what I find really awesome is the person who planned this story didn't just abuse a story creator's power and go "Oh, this happened just because." The guy has a whole theory including simple quantum physics to back up his imagination. AND HE PRESENTS IT IN AN AMAZINGLY AWESOME WAY.

There are only two points I am unsatisfied with on this game. One, CoCoro is SO STUPID. ....I guess this is more of a personal preference, coz I get annoyed when my thought process exceeds the character's too many times. Fortunately, I only have to play as CoCoro for half the game. For the other half, Satoru is MUCH SMARTER than her, and seems to have a closer mode of thinking to me, so I don't die as easily when I'm playing as him. =v=+ [plus, HE IS REALLY COOL <3 <3]
Two, the ending of the story is not as satisfying...=A=;; It's kind of cliff hanger....probably means there might be a sequel =______________________=

BUT SATORU IS CUTE THE PLOT AND PACING ARE REALLY GOOD SO I STILL RECOMMEND IT.

...In other news....
IB Pilot programs are horrid because I have to be the guenia pig class =A=.....
[obviously I was going to rant more about that, but after my recomended viewings, I feel better now so bye.]
